Online trade is growing by 40-50% per year, so it is never too late to open your own online store. You don’t need knowledge of HTML or web design to start. We share a step-by-step guide on how to come up with a name, create a website and launch an online store in a couple of days.
And yes, we only need two tools:
- Domain name. This is the address of the website where it can be found on the Internet.

We are developing naming
If you already know what to name your store, proceed to the next step. And if not, here are some tips for proper naming:
- A good name should be concise, unique, and understandable to your audience.
- Think globally . If you are targeting international markets, make sure that the name does not have negative connotations and associations when translated.
- Check the availability of the name in Rospatent and make sure that it does not violate the rights of other companies to the trademark. It is not necessary to register your brand in Rospatent to start a business. But it should not repeat or be similar to the point of confusion to the names of existing companies that already have a patent. In addition, in Russia it is forbidden to use abbreviated or full names of countries and their derivatives in naming.
Remember, there is no universal solution. Every entrepreneur finds inspiration in something of their own. Some use their own first and last name, others create abbreviations, invent new words, or are inspired by the world around them. For example, Adobe founder John Warnock named the company after a creek in California that ran behind his house. And the iPhone brand was born from combining the English word phone and the letter I. As Steve Jobs later explained, it stands for Internet and symbolizes many other words that start with I: individual, inspire. After all, a name is not everything. It is more important that a company benefits society.
Selecting a logo
A logo is optional. You won’t need it at first, until the store makes a profit. But if you really want your own logo, but don’t have the budget for development, you can indulge yourself and use neural networks. They can create a visual brand symbol for free or for a small fee. Here are a few services to consider:
- Turbologo — to generate, the service will ask you to enter the name and slogan (optional) of the future company, choose the colors you like, and icons. After that, you can edit the logo. Generation is free, but downloading a finished logo costs 790 rubles. This is the logo we got for a homemade jam shop:
- Freelogodesign — here you can download low-resolution images for free. To generate, you will need to enter the company name and select a suitable template. The platform will generate the image and show placement options. To download, enter your email, and a ready-made logo will be sent to it. This is what we got:
- Logoza is a completely free service, but you create the logo yourself practically from scratch. You can choose suitable fonts, colors, icons and arrange them in any order. But you can download it immediately via the link.
Well, if none of the services suited you, you can use a simple option for developing a logo – write the company name in black font on a white background or vice versa. Many famous brands have such logos:

Register a domain name

It is better to choose new zones – such as .shop, .store, .online, .site, .clothing. They are no worse, but more free – there are not so many sites in them and you can choose a laconic and beautiful name. - Check the domain for availability. You can do this using the Whois service – just enter the address in the search bar and click the “Check” button. We create a website for an online store

Now let’s get to the main thing!
We design a website
A template is a website template in which you can change everything: from fonts and color schemes to blocks and pages. The Reg.site interface is intuitive and clear – even those who have never worked with website builders before will understand it.
Change the title. To do this, simply click on the text, delete the old title and write a new one. It should be simple, but accurately reflect your activity. For example, if you plan to sell items of your own production, the description “Handmade clothes” will do. If you paint pictures, you can use the title “Author’s paintings for the interior”.
Add photos. Changing them is as easy as changing text – go to the module settings, then page settings. Find the “Background” tab and upload the desired image.
Set up products
The WooCommerce plugin for online stores is already connected to the Reg.site. With it, you can upload products, create catalogs, manage order processing, track analytics and the status of each order. You can read about all the features of this plugin in our Knowledge Base .
To set up products for your online store, go to your WordPress admin panel via the control panel at the top of the builder:
And open the corresponding tab:
Then go to the product card and edit the name, photos and prices. You can set the base and promotional prices, add a description of the product.
